Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Every year, more than 4,000 people on foot are killed in car accidents in the United States. Patch says 470 pedestrians died in California in 2021, compared to 463 in 2020 and 460 in 2019.

There are many reasons why people can get injured while walking. Driver distractions, such as using a cell phone, driving while drunk, and not giving way to pedestrians in crosswalks are some of the most common causes.

Pedestrians are also frequently hit by drivers who go too fast. Overspeeding may prevent a driver from stopping in time to avoid hitting a pedestrian. Street people can suffer harm from this.

Pedestrian accidents can also be caused by poor road design. Walking in the street is not an option if there are no crosswalks or sidewalks. If cars are passing by, this can be dangerous.

An injured pedestrian must go to the hospital immediately after a car accident. If you want to discuss the situation with a lawyer, you can do so.
