[09-22-2022] San Diego County, CA – Unidentified Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Interstate 5

According to the California Highway Patrol, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was fatally injured near Hawthorn Thursday morning, September 22, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at around 6:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 5 near the Hawthorn Street exit downtown.

During the incident, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle traveling in the right lane, and two additional cars collided with each other, according to the CHP.

The age of the victim, as well as their identity, were not revealed right away. There were delays of approximately one hour on the freeway due to the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is still looking into what caused the collision.
