[10-06-2026] Sutter County, CA – Two Killed, Two Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 99

Two people were killed, and two others sustained injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 99 in Sutter County on Tuesday evening, October 6, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter division, officers responded at around 5:27 p.m. to the crash on Highway 99, south of Howsley Road.

CHP said a white Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound when it crossed the dirt median and collided head-on with a Volvo XC60. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn and come to rest in a ditch.

The Toyota driver and front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A rear passenger suffered major injuries and was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

The male driver of the Volvo sustained minor injuries.

CHP said it remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
