A male bicyclist died after being struck by an unknown vehicle in Mecca, Riverside County, early Saturday morning, October 7, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of the incident around 1:30 a.m. on 66th Avenue, east of State Route 86.

The bicyclist was identified as a homeless 58-year-old male who was found dead by authorities upon their arrival at the scene.

An investigation was conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, but no driver has been identified yet.
