[10-09-2022] A Senior Resident Suffered Minor Injuries Following a Couch Fire in RiversideA senior resident fell while attempting to flee and sustained a minor injury after a couch fire and sprinkler flooded the hallway at a senior assisted living facility in Riverside on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

The accident occurred around 1:05 a.m., according to the local authorities. They called them to the 5200 block of Central Avenue. In a hallway, they found a couch that had been on fire.

According to Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Pat Hopkins, paramedics transported the patient to a hospital in stable condition.

The sprinkler system eventually put out the fire, but not before the hallway was flooded, and about ten rooms were damaged by water.

The authorities stated that they turned off the sprinkler system at the same time the crews performed water salvage operations.

The facility made plans for 10 displaced residents to find alternative housing.
