A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 backed up traffic, but none of the drivers were hurt in Banning on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred at 4:40 p.m. on the westbound I-10, just east of Eighth Street.
There were three vehicles involved in the collision in the fast lane, according to the agency, but no other information was available.
Twenty minutes later, crews from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the scene and discovered all of the parties outside of their cars, unharmed.
According to the CHP, the SUV suffered serious damage and needed to be towed away from the scene.
The officers were attempting to clear the debris and reopen the lane while contending with heavy traffic as of 5:20 p.m.
The reason for the collision remains under investigation.
Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
The state’s thriving economy may be contributing to an increase in traffic accidents. Over 3,004 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2010, per statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Driving in California is not without its dangers. These accidents could have been avoided if the drivers involved had been more cautious. Over ninety-four percent (94%) of all accidents can be traced back to human error.
Car accident injuries range from being mildly annoying to being extremely painful. Drivers may become desensitized to the danger they face on the road as a result of the frequency with which accidents occur.
A multi-vehicle collision is one that involves three or more cars. In the aftermath of a head-on collision, up to six vehicles may be involved.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that more than 13,000 people died in 2010 as a result of fatalities in accidents involving two or more vehicles.
Riverside County Car Accident Lawyers
When only two vehicles are involved, determining fault is easy. Finding a workable solution for everyone involved when there are multiple vehicles is difficult.
Trying to figure out who did it becomes more difficult. If two or more cars had collided, a lot of people might have died.
In the event of a multiple-vehicle collision where fault is unclear, you should not rely on an insurance company to help you resolve the situation. Whenever a claim is being settled, insurance companies put their own interests ahead of the policyholders.
