[10-25-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - Several People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving an RV in SylmarAccording to the Los Angeles Fire Department, two people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision that involved an RV in the Sylmar neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

According to the Los Angeles City Police Department, the collision transpired around 2:15 a.m. in the 16400 block of Foothill Boulevard.

When the units arrived at the scene, they discovered one vehicle with significant damage to the front end, one truck on its side, and one recreational vehicle (RV) that had been sideswiped and was utterly destroyed with debris in the lanes.

Two patients, the conditions of which were unknown, were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. It seemed as though they were inside the RV.

The portion of the street where the accident occurred is quite long, and there were no working traffic lights during that time. It is possible that speed played a role in the accident.

The region is also home to many nomads who make their homes in recreational vehicles (RVs). There is a line of over 20 recreational vehicles (RVs) on the street.

The LAPD is looking into the collision that occurred in traffic.

Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

Every year, traffic accidents in the United States result in millions of injuries and tens of thousands of fatalities. According to data from the DOT’s Fatality Analysis System, 36,560 people lost their lives in vehicle-related incidents last year. (FARS).

The number of speed-related crashes in the city decreased by 15% in 2018 to 327. Drunk driving accidents dropped by 32%, from 220 in 2017 to 174 in 2018. Still, that’s no excuse for drivers to slack off on safety. Driver vigilance is still required to prevent fatalities in traffic accidents.

An accident involving three or more cars is considered a multi-vehicle accident. When one car crashes into another or multiple vehicles, it can set off a “chain reaction” accident.

Less than 10% of all collisions yearly involve three or more vehicles. The NHTSA, however, maintains that they cause a disproportionate number of traffic-related deaths.
