A male bicyclist was killed after a hit-and-run vehicle crash in Modesto on Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 2023.
According to the Modesto Police Department, the collision occurred before 5:30 p.m. along McHenry Avenue between Sylvan Avenue and East Union Avenue.
Reports indicate the victim crossed the street before being hit by a 2010-2013 white or light-colored Kia Soul traveling southbound. The driver fled the scene, while the victim was taken to a hospital, but he later died.
The fleeing vehicle’s windshield and passenger side are suspected to be damaged. Southbound traffic at Union Avenue was closed, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
