Two people are critically injured after the vehicle they were in was struck by a Mercedes-Benz that may have been racing with a Rolls-Royce in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, on Friday night, November 8, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. when the Mercedes-Benz GT63 and Rolls-Royce Cullinan were speeding westbound on Sherman Way. The Mercedes collided with the right side of a Honda Civic traveling eastbound and negotiating a left turn into a parking lot at Sherman Circle.
The two occupants in the Honda suffered critical injuries. The Rolls-Royce swerved to avoid the Honda and collided with a Chevrolet Traverse going eastbound before hitting a curb. The driver of the Rolls-Royce then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
The driver of the Mercedes complained of pain and was taken to the hospital. He was later arrested on suspicion of reckless driving.
