Two people were killed and two others were hospitalized in a car crash caused by a DUI driver in West Covina on Saturday morning, December 03, 2022.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fatal collision occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. close to the North Grand Avenue and East Toni Drive intersection.
The crash involved a speeding Acura driven allegedly by a DUI driver that smashed into two parked cars, leaving the Acura completely totaled.
The California Highway Patrol said all four people were occupants of the Acura. Three were trapped in the vehicle, while one, a 30-year-old woman, was declared dead at the scene.
All three victims were taken to local hospitals, where one, a man, would eventually die. The condition of the other two, including the driver who was taken into custody at the hospital on DUI suspicion, is currently unknown.
Speeding vehicles are not uncommon on this section of Grand Avenue, and it was speculated that this may have had a role in the collision.
