A 39-year-old man identified as John R. was killed after getting hit by an Amtrak passenger train at Safford and Santa Fe Avenues on Sunday night, December 12, 2021.
The crash happened at around 8:30 pm on Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) tracks near Palm and Dakota Avenues around 8:30 pm.
The passenger train struck the man for unclear reasons. The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been established.
The 39-year-old man was killed in the crash. There were 41 passengers on the train at the time of the accident; no other injuries were reported.
Local authorities are further investigating the accident. Anyone that can give more information about the crash is asked to call CHP at 559-705-2200.
