Rollover Accident Statistics
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rollover accidents are a major safety concern. In fact, they account for approximately one-third of all fatalities in motor vehicle accidents. They happen when a car or truck tips over onto its side or roof, often due to a sudden turn or swerve. Rollovers can cause serious injuries to the driver and passengers, including head and neck injuries, spinal cord injuries, internal injuries, and death.
Rollovers occur in all vehicle types but are more common in SUVs and pickups. They are also more likely to happen on rural roads than in urban areas. Drivers can reduce their chances of being involved in a rollover accident by following the speed limit, using caution when making turns, and wearing seat belts.
Rollovers can be caused by many factors, including losing control of the vehicle on a sharp turn, driving too fast around a curve, or hydroplaning. When a car rolls over, it can quickly become engulfed in flames, leading to serious injuries or death.
There are several things that drivers can do to reduce their risk of a rollover accident, including ensuring that their car is properly maintained and using safety features such as seat belts and airbags. It is also essential to stay within the speed limit and avoid driving while impaired.
