A helicopter crashed in a neighborhood in southeast Fresno, injuring two people on Saturday morning, October 01, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol received a report of an aircraft down shortly before 10:00 a.m. near Willow and Garrett avenues. The phone call was then forwarded to the Fresno Police Department.
Fresno police officers responded to the scene and awaited the arrival of National Transportation Safety Board representatives from Seattle. A Federal Aviation Administration representative was already on the scene.
The helicopter collided with a palm tree in the front yard before coming to rest on its roof, causing minor damage to the exterior.
According to investigators, the people aboard the survey helicopter suffered minor injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
According to responding officers, the homeowners were inside the house at the time of the crash.
It was not immediately known whether homeowners were injured.
The investigation is still ongoing.
