A “single-vehicle accident” is an incident involving only one car that results in injuries. More than 1,100 people are killed annually in these accidents, accounting for about 8% of all traffic fatalities.

More than 30,000 Americans are killed, and 2.1 million are injured in motor vehicle collisions annually. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nine out of ten drivers and passengers don’t always buckle up.

If drivers pay attention to the road and avoid distractions like texting and talking on their phones, they can reduce the number of single-car accidents that occur yearly. They should also make sure their vehicles are well-maintained to prevent any mishaps that a breakdown could precipitate.
