[10-27-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - Unidentified Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Pacific Coast HighwayAccording to the Long Beach Police Department, a pedestrian man running across lanes of traffic was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway south of CAL State Long Beach Thursday evening, October 27, 2022.

According to the LBPD, the collision transpired around 6:22 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway and Channel Drive.

The police arrived to find the man awake and being cared for by the Good Samaritans who had stopped to help.

As reported by the police, a Wilmington resident in his twenties was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla when he hit the man, who was reportedly crossing PCH outside a crosswalk.

A local hospital reportedly received the man in critical condition after an emergency call, but he passed away several hours later. Authorities are still working to notify his family, so they haven’t released his identity.

The driver and a number of witnesses stayed at the scene to help police with their inquiries. A lack of attention behind the wheel, sobriety behind the wheel, or excessive speed as the cause of the crash are all possibilities.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
