[11-16-2022] Wrong Way Driver Injures 25 Recruits in WhittierTwenty-five law enforcement recruits were injured after a Honda CR-V going the wrong way struck them and hit a light pole in Whittier Wednesday morning, November 16, 2022.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. close to Mills Avenue intersection and Telegraph Road.

Police officials state that the victims were running northbound when the driver, traveling southbound on Mills Avenue, veered into the opposing lanes and struck them.

When the collision occurred, firefighters heard a loud crash and immediately helped the cadets while calling for more help.

A total of 20 law enforcement vehicles from various agencies arrived at the scene.

Police officials reported that five people, including one on a ventilator, are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, 16 recruits had minor injuries, while four sustained moderate injuries.

The most severe wounds included head trauma, broken bones, and limb loss.

All wounded victims were taken to nearby medical facilities.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
