A 74-year-old man died, and two were injured after a two-vehicle crash in San Diego University’s neighborhood Thursday morning, November 17, 2022.
Authorities stated that the fatal collision reportedly occurred around 9:15 a.m. west on Eastgate Mall at the intersection with Town Centre Drive.
According to reports, the man was driving west in a Mitsubishi SUV when he entered the intersection against a red light.
The SUV flipped over and crashed into a traffic signal pole after colliding with a Honda Accord traveling north on Town Centre Drive.
Responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver dead on the scene.
Meanwhile, the 73-year-old occupant of the SUV was transported to a hospital after being critically injured.
The 49-year-old Honda driver was also taken to a hospital for a chest pain evaluation.
The crash is still under investigation.
