Fatal Hit-And-Run Collision Statistics

According to a new study, there has been an increase in hit-and-run crashes. In 2020, hit-and-run accidents claimed the lives of 24% of all pedestrians.

Recent studies show California has the highest risk of pedestrian fatalities and serious injuries compared to other states. In 2012, over 893 pedestrians were killed, and nearly 14,000 were injured in California.

A hit-and-run collision occurs when one vehicle collides with another and flees the scene without stopping to give aid. In addition to the pain and suffering and the social and economic costs of injury wrecks, hit-and-run incidents can exacerbate outcomes because victims are usually delayed or do not obtain medical attention.

Pedestrians have been involved in increasing accidents and fatalities in recent years. For some time, the number of deaths associated with this tragedy has been frighteningly high.

One of the primary causes of pedestrian fatalities and injuries is failure to yield to pedestrians or braking too sharply. Pedestrians should use sidewalks whenever possible, avoid using drugs and alcohol while walking, and use caution when crossing parking lots or driveways to reduce their risk of injury.
