[12-13-2022] Multi-Vehicle Collision in West Covina Injures Four including CHP OfficerAt least four people were injured, two of them hospitalized including a CHP officer, in a multi-vehicle collision in West Covina on Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2022.

According to the West Covina Fire Department, the crash involving four vehicles occurred shortly before 1:54 p.m. on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway near Barranca Street.

Initial reports stated that three cars were involved, but later reports claimed there were four. An initial crash occurred between a Toyota Sequoia and a Toyota Tacoma that caused the Sequoia to strike the back of a parked CHP officer’s vehicle, which then hit a Toyota Corolla in front of it.

The officer was taken via ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with moderate injuries. The 55-year-old Sequoia driver was brought to Emanate Health Inter-Community Hospital with minor injuries. Both are in stable conditions.

The two drivers of Tacoma and Corolla were not taken to the hospital despite sustaining minor injuries. They received medical attention at the site.

The investigation and clean-up required the closure of three lanes of traffic. On the eastbound 10 Freeway, there were miles-long traffic jams.

Multi-Vehicle Accident Statistics
