[12-22-2022] Driver and Pedestrian Injured in Train Collision that Split a CarA driver and a pedestrian were injured in a train collision that split a car in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, December 22, 2022.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash transpired around 3:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Vernon Avenue in the South Los Angeles neighborhood.

The crash involved a Metro Blue Line train colliding with and splitting a vehicle in half. The female driver reportedly tried to drive over the track and around the crossing arms just before the train plowed into her car.

The firefighters who responded had to extricate the woman stuck inside the car before transporting her to a local hospital. She reportedly sustained a shattered hip.

They also said a pedestrian in the area suffered minor injuries due to the collision. Fortunately, nobody onboard the train was hurt.

Tracks 1 and 2 of the Metro Blue Line were briefly closed while workers cleared the scene and looked into the crash.
