SINGLE-VEHICLE CRASH STATISTICS
Many drivers are unaware that single-vehicle accidents are among California’s most dangerous types of car accidents.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 62% of all fatal vehicle collisions in California involve a single vehicle (NHTSA). Drivers must be aware of the various contributing factors due to California’s high rate of single-vehicle accidents.
A single-car collision can happen for several reasons. A run-off-the-road collision occurs when a driver loses control of their vehicle while driving at high speeds or making sudden turns on a slick, wet road. There could be road debris, such as a large branch or something that fell off a truck.
Your comprehensive coverage plan will almost certainly limit your recovery in case of a single-car accident that was not your fault or the fault of another driver, such as when a deer ran in front of your car.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY CAR ACCIDENT LAWYERS
Because of their injuries, many car accident victims cannot return to work or school. Even if the victim dies, the negligent driver remains liable. Victim’s heirs have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver who killed them (or legal heirs).
It is excruciatingly painful for them to endure their losses and grief all over again. During depositions and trials, victims must testify about their losses in front of strangers. If a case drags on for months or even years, one’s mental health may suffer greatly.
If a negligent driver causes an accident, it is critical to hold them accountable. Accountability is critical when negligence results in an unnecessarily high death toll. Wrongful death lawsuits can be emotionally draining for bereaved families, but they can also provide closure. All California drivers will benefit from this.
