Pedestrian Accident Statistics

The number of pedestrians killed or badly injured on California’s freeways is rising. More people are walking to work, school, shopping, exercising, and simply enjoying the outdoors. Walking, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly dangerous at a time when we promote it as a healthy, useful, and community-building alternative to driving.

According to official statistics, up to 70,000 pedestrians are killed or injured in the United States each year. For pedestrians, California is the 16th most dangerous state in the United States. Pedestrian deaths in California climbed by 38.4% between 2009 and 2017.

Almost 7,000 pedestrians were killed in vehicle accidents on our country’s highways in 2020. One death occurs every 75 minutes as a result of pedestrian accidents.

Accidents like this occur at the most unexpected moments. When driving near pedestrians, it is important to be cautious, and pedestrians must always be aware of their surroundings when crossing or walking near highways.

If you were injured in a Tulare pedestrian accident, you should consult with a personal injury attorney. A lawyer can help you recover more compensation than you can, as well as guide you through the process of submitting claims with the motorists’ insurance company.
