The California Highway Patrol discovered an unresponsive victim and not breathing in the #1 lane. An investigation is being conducted by the CHP East Los Angeles Division.
Montebello Fire Department released the raging car fire that arrived on the scene.
The condition of the male collision victim who was transported to a nearby hospital by Monterey Park Fire paramedics is unknown.
The CHP closed all but one lane of the westbound 60 at the scene of the accident for an unknown amount of time.
East Los Angeles CHP Sgt. Herrarte claimed there were two vehicles, two parties, and one party was standing outside his disabled vehicle in the #2 lane when it was struck by a car that was also in that lane.
According to Herrarte, the victim, a 30-year-old Hispanic male, was declared dead at the scene.
Herrarte claimed that the car that the person was standing next to on the freeway was not the one that was on fire.
