Reckless Driving Accident Statistics
Drivers who are reckless or aggressive endanger the lives of others needlessly. It is unacceptable when careless driving hurts third parties. Drivers who act this way should be held liable for the harm and deaths they cause.
In the United States, aggressive driving significantly contributes to traffic accidents, road rage, and numerous fatal highway incidents yearly. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aggressive driving is when a driver commits a series of moving traffic violations to endanger other people or property.
Despite the difficulty in quantifying aggressive driving, a 2009 study by the American Automobile Association found that between 2003 and 2007, it contributed to 56% of fatal accidents. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatal Accident Reporting System, excessive speed is the most frequent factor.
Driving recklessly is considered an extreme driving crime or a serious traffic infraction in California. The terms “reckless,” “careless,” and “improper” driving and driving are frequently used synonymously. It significantly increases the likelihood of fatal car accidents, whatever you want to call them.
Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers
Legal negligence is employed in the vast majority of auto accident cases. However, your California reckless driving accident lawyer will work to establish intentional behavior or “negligence per se” to prove that the other driver was at fault in a careless driving accident. Deliberate conduct, driving while intoxicated, carries a higher risk of specific outcomes because it is voluntary.
Reckless driving is against the California Vehicle Code, and negligence per se involves breaking the law; an injured pedestrian, passenger, or other road user may be able to prove negligence per se liability. In either case, having a solid claim necessitates the training and expertise of an aggressive California reckless driving accident attorney.
