Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident Statistics
Approximately one person is killed and ten more are injured per minute due to automobile accidents in the United States. Two million people under the age of twenty-four die, and ten times that many are injured every year due to these occurrences. It is predicted that over 10,000 people in California will have lost their lives in traffic-related incidents by 2050.
Since 2013, the number of annual traffic-related deaths has increased by an average of 23.5%. There were 3,898 fatalities and 279,000 injuries attributed to automobile accidents in the United States in 2017. That year, nine people were killed for every 100,000 who rode buses and subways.
It seems like almost every California motorist has a terrible tale to tell about a time they were behind the wheel. Defensive driving strategies, such as maintaining a safe following distance, being alert, and checking one’s vehicle frequently, can reduce the likelihood of being involved in a car crash.
What to Do After a Car Accident
After an automobile accident, calling the authorities right away is crucial. If questioned, just tell what happened without adding your own thoughts or interpretations. Oftentimes, those who have been in accidents are in such a state of shock and fear that they apologize profusely, even though they were not at fault. This could be used as justification by the insurance company to deny your claim.
