Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
1.35 million people are killed on the world’s roadways each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicycle riders are frequently the victims of these deadly accidents.
Globally, car accidents ranked eighth in death rates among all age groups but first among children and young people.
By 2020, 1.37 fatalities were reported for every 100 million miles driven in the country. Road fatalities increased 18.4% in the first half of 2021, as compared to 2020.
Several different things could cause a collision that only involves one vehicle. When a driver loses control of their car due to speeding or making sharp turns on a wet and slippery road, this type of accident is known as a run-off-the-road accident. There may be debris on the road, such as branches or items knocked off of trucks.
Using a seatbelt, remaining aware while driving, and avoiding distractions while behind the wheel are ways to lower the likelihood of one of these events. Although people take safety precautions, they risk being involved in one of these traffic accidents.
