[02-13-2023] One Driver Killed After Two-Semi-Truck Collision in AlpineOne person was killed following a fiery collision between two semi-trucks in the census-designated place of Alpine, San Diego County, on Monday night, February 13, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle collision occurred at about 6:30 p.m. along Interstate 8 on the eastbound lanes near Tavern Road.

Official reports revealed that a semi-truck rammed into the back of a fully-loaded car carrier traveling eastbound on the highway for reasons still under investigation. The truck that rear-ended the car carrier burst into flames, killing the driver on the spot.

The driver of the first truck was reportedly unharmed. No further details on their identities were immediately available as the investigation continued.

Interstate 8’s eastbound lanes were shut down following the fatal crash.
