According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Bishop Avenue and Shields Avenue at around 8:30 p.m.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash. Although the suspect fled the scene of the accident, officers spotted their vehicle on Floyd Avenue.

The victim passed away that evening. Their identity is being withheld until the notification of the next of kin.

The authorities released no other details at the time of the report.
