[08-28-2023] Riverside County, CA – Elderly Bicyclist Hospitalized in Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run Incident in Cathedral City

A 91-year-old bicyclist was injured and hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Cathedral City on Monday morning, August 28, 2023.

The Cathedral City Police Department received a report about a collision around 3:15 a.m. near Cathedral Canyon Drive near Dinah Shore Drive.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the bicyclist, a man from Cathedral City, lying on the road with severe injuries and transported him to a local medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities said the driver had fled the scene before the their arrival. During the investigation, a portion of Cathedral Canyon Drive, between Dinah Shore Drive and Paseo Real, was closed for several hours. However, the roadway was reopened before 11 a.m.
