What To Do After A Car Accident In Pleasant Hill

Large or small, auto accidents can be overwhelming and upsetting. Knowing what to do immediately following an incident is crucial for safeguarding your rights, your health, and your ability to receive compensation. Here are what to do if you lost a loved one or were injured in an automobile accident:

  • Remain composed. Stay put and make sure that everyone is okay. Check to see whether you are harmed first, and then see if anyone else is. Remain composed and try your best to unwind.
  • Go to a secure location. If at all possible, park your vehicle on the side of the road or move it. To warn other drivers of the collision, turn on your warning lights. As they approach, this alerts them to slow down. Look for a secure location to wait for the police.
  • Dial 911. Call the police as soon as possible to report your collision. The police have the ability to document the incident, gather data, and produce an official record.
  • Share information. Exchange information with the other motorists or drivers in the collision, including names, contact details, and insurance information. Take photos of the vehicles, license plates, and any pertinent details if you can.
  • Don’t take responsibility. After an automobile accident, a lot of people make this error. Remain true to the facts when speaking with a police officer. Don’t apologize or claim responsibility. Give as much information as you can about the mishap.
  • Seek medical attention. See your doctor or go to the hospital immediately. Receiving medical attention as soon as possible will help reduce the damage caused by your accidents. Internal injuries that may not yet exhibit symptoms can be detected by tests and scans.
  • Inform your insurance provider. There are deadlines for reporting accidents set by the majority of California insurance providers. To report your accident, give the agent a call as soon as possible and do what is directed.
  • Never speak with insurance adjusters by yourself. The other party’s insurance provider may contact you on the day of your collision. You can speak with the claims lawyer, but just divulge the information that is required. After speaking with a lawyer, don’t say anything or accept an insurance settlement offer.
  • Create a file. Organize and keep accident-related documents together. The police report, medical bills, information on the other driver, treatment plans for your injuries, and any other documents pertaining to the incident should all be in your file.
  • Get in touch with our auto accident attorneys. If you have any questions, call us at (888) 488-1391. We offer risk-free, commitment-free consultations where you can discuss your auto accident. If necessary, we can assist you in contacting insurance providers, determining whether your case is solid, and submitting a personal injury claim. Car Accident Statistics

According to 2022 figures from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 20% of all preventable injury-related deaths in the United States were caused by motor vehicle accidents. This shows how important road safety is for general health.

In 2023, road safety got a little better. From January to June 2023, there were about 19,515 traffic crash deaths. This is a 3.3% drop from the 20,190 deaths in the same time period in 2022. This decrease indicates an improvement in road safety efforts, but deaths are still a serious issue.
