What To Do After A Car Accident

Traffic accidents can have serious effects. If you can, you should take the following steps to protect your safety and legal rights:

  • If you can do so, move your car to the side of the road to avoid more accidents. While waiting for the cops, turn on your hazard lights to alert others.
  • Stay relaxed and focused. Look for any types of injuries. Do not admit to causing the crash when talking to the other people involved.
  • Call 911 to report the accident. The authorities will make a formal report about the accident, which can help your claim later.
  • Exchange details with the other parties, such as names, contact numbers, and insurance information. Take pictures of all the cars involved. Make sure to note any damage and injuries.
  • When talking to the cops after the accident, explain what happened clearly, but avoid saying anything that could make you seem at fault.
  • No matter how minor your injuries seem, see a doctor as soon as possible. Some symptoms might not show up right away. Medical records will also support your claim.
  • Contact your insurance company to inform them about the incident. To report the crash correctly, follow their instructions.
  • Don’t deal with insurance adjusters on your own. If the other party’s adjuster calls you, only share basic information. Always seek legal help before signing any document or accepting an offer.
  • Keep a record of all important proof, including the police report, medical bills, the other driver’s information, and medical records.
  • Call (888) 488-1391. Arash Law’s highly-rated injury lawyers can evaluate your case, negotiate with insurance companies, and give you legal guidance when you file a personal injury claim.
