One person was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries in a multi-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver on the southbound 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, early Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 4:06 a.m. near the Valley Vista Boulevard exit. Reports indicate that a motorist driving the wrong way was involved, but the extent of their role in the collision remains under investigation.
Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene. Two others were transported to a hospital in critical condition, while another individual declined medical treatment and was released at the scene.
The crash resulted in a full closure of all southbound lanes, causing significant traffic delays extending from West Encino to the 118 Freeway.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
