An 18-year-old was killed after a suspected DUI driver ran a red light, causing a multi-vehicle collision in Lancaster on Monday evening, September 22, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. at 90th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard.
A maroon Kia, driven by 47-year-old M. Monroy of Palmdale, was traveling southbound on 90th Street East and failed to stop at a red light, entering the path of a gray Infiniti G35 heading eastbound on Palmdale Boulevard. The Infiniti lost control and collided with a white Chevrolet Avalanche that was stopped at the light. The driver of the Infiniti, from Littlerock, was pronounced dead at the scene; their name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
Monroy sustained severe but unspecified injuries and was transported to a hospital. The Chevrolet driver, 69-year-old G. Martinez of Lancaster, was uninjured, and a female passenger sustained minor injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision.
