Two people were injured, including one who sustained life-threatening injuries, following a collision between a car and a semi-truck in Fremont early Tuesday morning, January 27, 2026.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the crash occurred at around 1:49 a.m. at the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and Cushing Parkway. The collision involved a BMW M4 two-door coupe and a semi-truck with a trailer attached.

Police stated that the BMW was traveling northbound on Cushing Parkway when the semi-truck was driving westbound on Auto Mall Parkway. Both vehicles entered the intersection, where the BMW’s front struck the middle of the trailer and became lodged beneath it.

The front-seat passenger, a 19-year-old man, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene while cooperating with investigators.

Police said the intersection was controlled by traffic signals that were operating properly at the time of the crash. A preliminary investigation indicated that one of the vehicles may have entered the intersection against a red light. Drug or alcohol impairment was not suspected.

The intersection remained closed for several hours as officers conducted their investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information was asked to contact the Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit at (510) 790-6760. Anonymous tips may also be submitted.
