[05-02-2025] Ventura County, CA – Man and Two Construction Workers Injured in Crash on 101 Freeway

A man and two construction workers were injured when a Toyota drove into a closed portion of the 101 Freeway in Ventura County late Friday night, May 2, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:51 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway, just north of West Main Street. The area had been closed for maintenance work by CalTrans subcontractors.

The driver of a blue Toyota, a 21-year-old man from Oxnard, drove into the closed section and struck a construction vehicle. The collision pushed the vehicle into two construction workers standing outside.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. One of the construction workers, a 24-year-old Bell resident, was taken to a hospital for moderate injuries, while the second, a 54-year-old Artesia man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the collision. No further details were immediately available.
