[05-13-2026] San Diego County, CA – Elderly Woman Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle In Front Of Costco In La Mesa

An 80-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in La Mesa on Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2026.

According to La Mesa police, the incident occurred shortly after noon in front of a Costco store in the 8100 block of Fletcher Parkway near Lake Murray.

Authorities stated that the woman was walking across a driveway in the commercial area when she was struck by a vehicle.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Officials said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
