[05-08-2022] One Man Fatally Struck While Crossing Encinitas Street to Pick FlowerAccording to California sheriff’s officials, a man trying to pick a flower was killed after being hit by an oncoming vehicle in Encinitas on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

According to a news release from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred at 4:00 p.m. on Piraeus Street near Normandy Road.

According to the release, a passenger got out of a stopped vehicle and crossed the street to pick up a flower.

As he crossed the street, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

According to sheriff’s officials, he was seriously injured and died later at a hospital.

The other driver escaped injury.

The crash remains under investigation, but it is unlikely that drugs or alcohol were involved.
