Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics
A car accident caused by another driver’s carelessness is the worst thing that can happen to you. If the other driver does not stop or accept responsibility for the collision, things will only worsen.
When it comes to car accidents, hit-and-runs constitute a significant source of concern. In 2016, there were 2,049 people killed in hit-and-run accidents in the United States. According to a recent study, more than 680,000 hit-and-runs are reported each year in the United States. At least one pedestrian is killed each week due to a car accident.
If a negligent driver hits a pedestrian, there is no recourse for the pedestrian.
People leave the scene of an accident for various reasons, and these don’t always coincide. Precarious people are more likely to get into a car accident than others. People who drink and drive often flee the scene of the crash rather than deal with the consequences.
