An unidentified 59-year-old woman was killed after getting involved in a deadly head-on collision on Placer Hills Road on Friday morning, March 19.
The accident happened at around 6:05 p.m. on Placer Hills Road, just north of Pinewood Way. A northbound Subaru veered partially into the opposite lane for unclear reasons. The Subaru then went directly in front of a southbound Ford.
The Subaru and the Ford then collided head-on. Due to the severity of the impact, the Ford went off the road towards a dirt embankment where it rolled over.
The Ford driver, who was only identified as a 59-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was later identified as 20-year-old Parker S. He sustained moderate injuries from the accident and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the collision. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
Fatal Head-On Collision Statistics
Head-on accidents can lead to severe injuries. Many of these injuries are permanent, and permanent injuries can lead to a lifetime of pain and suffering.
Unfortunately, not everyone survives from a head-on collision. Although head-on collisions only represent 2 percent of accidents, they account for 10 percent of fatalities on U.S. roadways. Head-on collisions mainly occur when drivers are distracted or are experiencing over-fatigue.
Head-on collisions are one of the deadliest types of traffic collisions, mainly because the force is relatively stronger. There is a lot of energy generated by head-on collisions. In turn, this increased energy means that injuries are more likely to be fatal in this type of crash.
Liability can involve complex legal issues and defenses. It might be split between multiple drivers or companies. The defense might even try to say that you were partly at fault for your injuries. The difficulty in navigating this process is why it is essential to work with an experienced California accident lawyer who knows how to prove liability.
