An unidentified male pedestrian was killed after getting struck by a car in Moreno Valley on the morning of April 5th.
According to the initial reports from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at around 4:21 a.m. on Redlands Boulevard and Dracaena Avenue. A man that was estimated to be in his 30’s was seen walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a car.
Sadly, the victim died at the scene. The driver that struck the man remained at the scene and cooperated with the local authorities.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected as factors in the crash. The local authorities are currently investigating the accident.
Investigation for Fatal Pedestrian Accident is Underway
During the official investigation, the authorities will attempt to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
Pedestrians are more vulnerable to the dangers on the road in comparison to passengers of private vehicles. This is because passengers of private cars are more protected as they have seatbelts and airbags that can help in reducing the fatality rate of an accident. At the same time, pedestrians are left unprotected from the dangers on the roadways.
According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, around 6,227 pedestrians were killed in the U.S. in 2018, which was a 250 increase from the previous year. These pedestrian accidents are commonly caused by negligent driving, distracted driving, or failure to avoid incoming pedestrians.
When facing cases like this, it’s imperative to have an experienced Riverside wrongful death attorney specializing in fatal pedestrian accidents to conduct an independent investigation. During the independent investigation, all possible contributing factors such as road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting must be considered and thoroughly examined.
Attorneys have the resources to help prove the negligence of the liable party. They can re-interview important witnesses, review footage from the scene of the crash, and evaluate appropriate insurance coverage for the client.
Going through these procedures is necessary to help the victim’s family receive the justice that they deserve.
