[05-05-2026] San Joaquin County, CA – One Killed in Crash Involving Two Semi-Trucks in Acampo

One person was killed following a crash involving two semi-trucks in Acampo, San Joaquin County, on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on northbound Interstate 5 just north of Peltier Road.

Authorities reported that a Volvo big rig was traveling in the number two lane when the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to drift to the right and strike a disabled semi-truck parked on the shoulder.

A mechanic who was working underneath the disabled truck was struck during the collision. The mechanic was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim.

The investigation is ongoing.
