[05-17-2026] Lassen County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. Highway 395 South of Doyle

A motorcyclist was killed following a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 395 south of Doyle in Lassen County on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 2:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 395.

Authorities stated that the driver of a 2025 Subaru was traveling southbound and attempted to overtake a slower-moving truck tractor by entering the northbound lane. The Subaru then collided head-on with an approaching motorcycle.

The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the collision, the Subaru traveled off the west side of the highway and caught fire. Passersby assisted the occupants out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived. The occupants were later transported by ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
