A 17-year-old pedestrian was severely injured after being struck and dragged by a tourist train on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
According to Santa Cruz Police Department Deputy Police Chief Jon B., the incident occurred near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk that day.
The train was about to depart, so the staff checked the premises to make sure it was clear for departure. It sounded its horn and alarm to notify nearby people. Unfortunately, the teenage pedestrian was still struck and dragged beneath the train.
The victim was rushed to a trauma center and is expected to survive.
