[07-20-2026] Placer County, CA – Several People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Two Big Rigs Near Blue Canyon

Several people were injured in a major crash on westbound Interstate 80 near Blue Canyon in Placer County on Monday, July 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. near the Drum Forebay Road off-ramp and involved at least two big rigs and four to five additional vehicles.

Authorities reported that one of the big rigs left the road and went down an embankment. The collision also caused a significant diesel spill in the area.

The conditions of the injured individuals have not been released. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
