Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Over a thousand people are killed in California in accidents involving only one car per year.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 62% of fatal accidents in California involve only one vehicle. Some of the most dangerous highways in the United States can be found in California, so motorists must exercise extra caution.

The causes of accidents involving a single car can be complex. Inattention behind the wheel on a wet road can cause a vehicle to skid out of control or cause an accident. It’s possible that a large piece of debris, like a piece of driftwood, has washed up on the shore. More dangerous driving conditions may result from this.

Even if the other driver was negligent, your ability to recover damages in a one-car accident might be severely constrained by the terms of your insurance policy’s coverage plan.
