One person was killed, and multiple others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound lanes of Highway 99 between North and Cedar Avenues in Fresno on Sunday morning, January 11, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported just after 9:15 a.m. and involved approximately 15 vehicles, including a semi-truck.
CHP said dense fog was believed to be a major factor, with visibility limited to less than an estimated 15 feet. Investigators stated that traffic in the number one and number two lanes slowed, and vehicles traveling behind were unable to stop in time, resulting in a chain-reaction collision. Injuries ranged from minor to moderate, though one person died at the scene.
Authorities said individuals with minor injuries were transported to area hospitals using a Fresno FAX bus.
