At least one person sustained injuries after a crash involving two big rigs, and another vehicle shut down all southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway north of Castaic early Monday morning, June 22, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 4:43 a.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway just south of Smokey Bear Road.
Authorities reported that two big rigs and a third vehicle were involved in the crash. Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to clear the wreckage and assess those involved.
Officials said only minor injuries were reported. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
