Ford issues 2 safety recalls for the Fusion and Ranger line of vehicles

Vehicle manufacturers work under a great deal of pressure.

They must ensure that the parts they manufacture are safe for use. Developing vehicles or parts with defects puts lives at risk – thousands of lives if the defect occurs on a wide scale. Automobile manufacturer negligence is a matter of life and death.

A flawed design or production error can lead to a vehicle that risks the lives of drivers and passengers. Unfortunately, these mistakes occur every year. If an auto defect such as a broken seatbelt, malfunctioning airbag, or design that is prone to rollovers contributed to your injuries, seek help from Arash Law. We care about our clients and can help you go up against major vehicle part manufacturers and distributors.

Safety recall for select 2019 Ranger trucks for transmission shift cable bracket fastener

Ford is issuing a safety recall for select 2019 Ranger vehicles. On certain affected vehicles, the two fasteners that secure the transmission shift cable bracket to the transmission casing might not have been torqued to specification. With time, an improperly torqued bolt could allow the transmission shift cable bracket to become loose and the transmission to maintain a gear condition distinct from the gearshift position selected by the driver.

This condition could allow the driver to remove the ignition key (if armed ) with no instrument panel warning message or chime indicating that the transmission isn’t in park. This may allow unintended vehicle roll or movement out if the parking brake isn’t applied, increasing the probability of a crash or injury.

Ford is unaware of any accidents or injuries associated with this condition.

This action affects approximately 2,500 vehicles in the USA and federalized territories and nearly 260 in Canada. Affected vehicles include 2019 Ranger vehicles constructed at Michigan Assembly Plant, March 5-13, 2019.

Dealers will correctly torque the two attachments and check the correct functioning of the transmission selector assembly based on an established workshop manual process. Before the recall repair, the parking brake should be applied whenever the car is parked. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S15.

Safety recall for select 2013-16 Fusion vehicles equipped with a 2.5-liter motor for shifter cable bushing issue

Ford is issuing a safety recall for select 2013-16 Fusion vehicles with 2.5-liter motors for a shifter cable bushing issue. On influenced vehicles, the bushing that joins the shifter cable can degrade and detach from the transmission. A shifter cable which emanates out of the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear condition distinct from the gearshift position selected by the driver.

The status could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key while the transmission might not be in park, without warning message or audible chime. If the parking brake isn’t applied, a shifter cable which emanates out of the transmission could cause unintended vehicle motion, increasing the possibility of injury or crash.

Ford is aware of three reports alleging property damage, and one report alleging an injury possibly associated with this condition.

This action affects approximately 270,000 vehicles in North America, such as 259,182 in the USA and federalized territories, 10,282 in Canada and 3,765 in Mexico.

Affected vehicles include 2013-16 Fusion 2.5-liter engine-equipped cars, not in the first safety recall 18S20 constructed at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, April 12, 2013, to February 29, 2016, and in Hermosillo Assembly Plant, February 9, 2012, to April 4, 2016.

The leading cause and last service repair are in the process of being confirmed. Dealers and vehicle owners will be instructed to always use the parking brake, and they will be informed if the last remedy is available. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S16.
