[02-04-2021] San Francisco County, CA – Pedestrian Killed, 5 Others Injured After a Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Lake Merced

One pedestrian was killed, while five drivers were injured after a multi-vehicle traffic collision near Lake Merced on Thursday morning, February 4.

The deadly collision transpired at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the area of Higuera Avenue and Lake Merced Boulevard. A total of eight vehicles were involved in the collision.

How the crash occurred and the reason why it happened has not been established. One of the involved vehicles struck an innocent bystander. The pedestrian sustained fatal wounds from the crash and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Five people, including the driver that struck the pedestrian, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Local authorities later identified the driver that struck the pedestrian as 31-year-old San Francisco resident Jerry Lyons. He was taken into custody after receiving treatment from the hospital.

The suspect is facing charges, including DUI, speeding, and running a red light. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
