A 75-year-old man was seriously hurt after getting struck by a hit-and-run driver on Shasta Street on Thursday morning, October 28.

A pickup truck failed to yield the right of way to the elderly pedestrian, and it ended up hitting the older man who was crossing Shasta Street. The driver did not stop to render aid and drove away from the scene.

The 75-year-old man sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was suffering from head injuries and was immediately taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities were later able to apprehend the hit-and-run driver. She was identified as 33-year-old Leona M. Authorities found her at her home. She was booked to Shasta County Jail and will be facing hit-and-run-related charges. The accident is currently under further investigation.
